Bag Project 7 - Reversible Bucket Bag (1)

I have been staying in tune with MyBotang's Reversible Bucket Bag - Sew along.

I wasn't sure if I am going to find the time to do it, so I didn't join...   However, today I really want to do some craft work, so I picked the fabrics and cut them...  Once the fabric is cut, there is no turning back..  I need to complete the bag..  :)

Here is the choice of my fabrics:

The links to the instructions and pattern are available from MyBotang's Reversible Bucket Bag - Sew along.
The below abbreviations appear in the instructions, save you time googling them if you don't already know: :)
1) RST - Right Side Together
2) RSO - Right Side Out
3) WS - Wrong Side
4) WSU - Wrong Side Up
5) RSU - Right Side Up

The 2 A4 pattern sheets joined up look like below:

There are circles on both sheets.  Fold or cut one sheet and overlap the circles from each side.

Thanks Sue for the inspiration to make the bag....

Warmest regards,
Anic

Green Idea 2 - Lining waste paper bin with Newspaper

I used to line my waste paper bin with plastic bags I collected from shopping.  But after I started bringing my own shopping bags, I thought I should also stop lining my waste paper bin with plastic bag at least for dry rubbish...

So, I started lining them with newspaper:

Tutorial here (though in mandarin but the photos are self explanatory)

If the waste paper bin is too big and hardly filled, make a small bag.  I just fold anyway I like:

Hope you like this small idea...

Green Idea 1 - Gift bags

I needed nice bags for taking gifts for Chinese New Year (CNY) visiting.  Instead of buying them,  I made them from the paper bags & greeting cards I collected.   I cut the greeting cards to the right size and glued one piece each to the front and back of the bag...  very simple.. :)

Cost saving and green.

This is a bag from Secret Recipe... :)   Just a small idea to share..

DIY Cloth Pad - Part 9 (Snap on - Bamboo Fabrics)

Happy Chinese New Year to all....

Among my cloth pad stash, there is one which I quite like the design but there is something that I thought could be improved, hence I made one of my own.

It has a base and a soaker made from Bamboo Fabrics.   I like this design as I only need to take a few soakers with me if I am going out on a cloth pad day...
The base is made from microfleece and the soaker is made from bamboo fabrics.   The soaker top is made from Bamboo Velour with 2 layers from Bamboo Fleece.   I bought the bamboo fabrics from Tiny Tapir.   Bamboo velour as top is not necessary.

You could make the entire soaker from Bamboo fleece.   If you are using bamboo fleece as top, the side with smooth knit should be the side facing the skin. Not the side with bulu-bulu..  :).

These bamboo fabrics soakers absorb very well and with the microfleece as backing, the menstrual blood spread out well and no leaking as microfleece is water resistance.

Please ignore the bad sewing.. :)
In the original design the soaker has both snaps with stubs, so I can't fold and snap the 2 end together like the photo on the right.

In the one I sewed, the soaker has snaps with 1 stub & 1 socket, hence I could fold and snap the used soaker nicely..  :)  Of course the base would need to make similar change.

I am feeling good that I finally have a chance to use the bamboo fabrics I bought a few months ago...  :)

Bye now and I am off to make more soakers...  :)

Warmest regards,
Anic
